Does anyone else find themselves on Instagram one moment, then suddenly on some fashion brand's website clicking "add to cart" seemingly two milliseconds later? I could tell you (and my bank account), the pattern is derived from some unknown phenomena, to no fault of my own, or I could just lay it out as it is: I'm a sucker for buying pieces I've discovered via Instagram. But can you blame me? Between frequently discovering new fashion designers (fashion editor life), re-shared paparazzi photos of the most stylish celebrities, and spotting a cool piece when influencers or even my fashion-enthused peers post to their own accounts, it's just hard not to "get got". My latest obsession, thanks to the 'gram? Silver rings. But not just any rings (I'm sorry, but I'm really over the standard croissant styles, etc.). I mean the most funky, unorthodox, yet wearable styles I can find.

As someone who swore off silver-toned jewellery in middle school, it took the perfect storm to pique my interest in anything but expanding my gold ring collection. So it wasn't just Kylie Jenner and her best friend Stassie Karanikolaou wearing the emerging Canadian brand Steff Eleoff on repeat — though it largely was, and others such as Olivia Rodrigo have worn the brand as well. But in a way, trying something sartorially new to me, even something as small as changing the colour of my jewellery, feels like my version of post-pandemic dressing. I've largely left minimalism in 2020 (a strong claim, I know), and while dainty gold band rings and the like feel right up that alley, there's a contrasting in-your-faceness about the chunky, geometric or abstract-shaped silver accessories coming from young, experimental jewellery designers. Plus, the pieces look great alongside other vibrant elements such as psychedelic printed long-sleeved tops and bright-hued, statement outfits in general.

I kicked off my new collector's hobby with Hannah Jewett's Soft Droplet ring, and I have zero regrets. I'd already begun shifting my attention to smaller designers who handcraft their products and after feeling how sturdy the brand's rings are (the one I purchased is almost heavy in comparison to the factory-made rings I own – impressively so, rather than in a bothersome way), I'm officially converted. Of course then, I also snagged Steff Eleoff's Sedona and FF002 rings (receiving that "order shipped" email was the highlight of my day today). Ahead, here are some of the styles I'm loving in my collection already, plus others I've got my eye on (the more, the merrier, seriously). Get ready to layer them on and stand out.
