What to Pack for Turks & Caicos, Including Cutout Swimsuits and Sequin Dresses

01/11/2023 - 03:55 PM

With its idyllic white-sand beaches and crystal-blue waters, Turks & Caicos attracts tourists from across the globe — including several celebrities. The luminaries who frequent the island? Everyone from Drake to the Kardashian-Jenners to Heidi Klum [1]. Even Prince once owned a mansion on Turks & Caicos replete with a purple driveway. One visit to the luxury-travel destination and it's clear why it's so popular among Hollywood A-listers. Comprised of 40 islands, it offers a unique opportunity for secluded private-beach experiences where you can indulge in a day of sun and sand at your leisure. It's home to one of the world's largest barrier reefs, attracting adventure-seekers who spend their days scuba diving and snorkeling. And of course, tourists and locals alike visit the world-renowned Grace Bay Beach, known for its powder-soft white sand, clear waters, and strikingly colourful sunsets. But Turks & Caicos is not just about relaxing on the beach: there's also an emerging party scene with daytime soirees hosted on boats in the middle of the sea as well as an array of lounges and nightclubs. With unlimited options to build your itinerary, you might be wondering what to wear to Turks & Caicos. Fortunately, packing for the island is easier to navigate than you think.

First, start with transportation. I flew to the island on JetBlue, booking my flight with the beta version of Booking.com [2]'s AI Trip Planner, a super-easy process that takes the guesswork out of making travel arrangements and building an itinerary. That flight required an effortless, functional outfit with soft, comfortable fabric: a Skims lounge dress. Once I arrived to the lavish The Shore Club resort [3], I switched into something breezy yet elegant, pairing a LemLem bikini with Fe Noel's gorgeous ombré wide leg pants. For a day of lounging on the boat and snorkeling with Caicos Dream Tours, which I found on Tripadvisor [4], I wore a fun cutout swimsuit from Amazon and a wide-brimmed sun hat. And finally, I chose a fun sequin dress from ASOS for Vita Restaurant at Rockhouse Resort, one of the Leading Hotels of the World [5].

If you're planning a trip, you want to balance your packing list with a mix of beachside loungewear, functional swimsuits, party dresses, and more. Keep scrolling for what to wear to Turks & Caicos.

How to Travel to Turks & Caicos: JetBlue

I'm such a stickler when it comes to travel; my flights have to offer a mix of convenience and comfort to start off my trip on a high note. I was so pleased with my experience on JetBlue, while flying to Turks & Caicos. From the spacious legroom to the free, delectable snacks (PopChips for me) to a vast selection of movies and TV shows (I watched "Insecure," of course), my flight was like a holiday all on its own.

What to Wear to Travel to Turks & Caicos: Skims Lounge Dress

For my JetBlue flight, I wanted to look put together and comfortable and this soft lounge dress from Skims fit the bill. It's constructed of ribbed stretch modal fabric that feels so soft and luxurious against the skin — perfect for an in-flight nap.

Where to Stay in Turks & Caicos: The Shore Club

Situated on the breathtaking and secluded Long Bay Beach, The Shore Club [8] is a must-stay when visiting Turks & Caicos, whether you opt for a lavish 2-bedroom suite or a private luxury villa.

The villas all boast a whirlpool, sauna, and private courtyard with easy access to the beach while the suites offer a private, fully-furnished terrace and spectacular views of the ocean or pool. In my 2-bedroom suite, I especially loved the standalone deep, soaking tub but if you prefer showers, the rainfall shower head made for a spa-worthy experience.

Where to Stay in Turks & Caicos: The Shore Club

The Shore Club [11]'s extensive list of amenities include 4 outdoor pools, complementary buffet breakfast, the serene, full-service spa, water sports, and more. As a workout enthusiast, I was all about the fitness centre, tennis court, and lap pools. My favourite amenity was the stunning hospitality suite, which we visited after checking out before it was time to fly out and depart the island.

What to Do in Turks & Caicos: Caicos Dream Tours via Tripadvisor

It's not a Turks & Caicos trip without a boat ride. We enjoyed a half-day cruise with Caicos Dream Tours to experience the beauty of the island's crystal-blue water, white-sand beaches, and picteresque sunsets firsthand. Booked through Tripadvisor [13], the half-day tour included snorkeling, lizard-spotting, and lots of time spent lounging in the sun.

What to Wear to Caicos Dream Tours: Straw Hat

Beach Sun Straw Hat [14] ($26)

For a boat tour and excursion in Turks and Caicos, don't forget to pack a chic sun hat that will elevate your look while acting as your own personal shade. This version is packable while still maintaining its shape and has a 6-inch brim width to shield your skin from the sun (but still be sure to apply sunscreen [15]).

What to Wear to Caicos Dream Tours: Cutout Swimsuit

Chyrii Cutout Lace Up Monokini [16] ($31)

To lounge on the Caicos Dream Tours boat or swim in the ocean at one of the boat trip's stops, this cutout swimsuit will certainly come in handy. Not only is the lace-up bodice trendy and stylish, the nylon fabric is durable, comfy, and soft.

Where to Dine in Turks & Caicos: The Vita Restaurant at Rockhouse Resort

Turks & Caicos has a thriving culinary scene, and one of my favourite restaurants to visit on the island is The Vita Restaurant at Rockhouse Resort [17], a member of the Leading Hotels of the World [18]. The eatery has the most breathtaking views of Grace Bay Beach and a vast array of delicious food, from oysters to lemon spaghetti with lobster.

If you're dining at Vita Restaurant before a night on the town, a metallic dress is the perfect choice. ASOS offers an unrivaled assortment of party-ready frocks, and this style has it all: sequins, fringe, an open back, and a plunging neckline.

What to Wear to Turks & Caicos: Straw Bag

Brandon Blackwood Elyse Leather & Rattan Top Handle Bag [21] ($250)

For an accessory that will work for midday brunch or late-night cocktails, pick up this Brandon Blackwood handbag. The rattan handle makes it feel island-friendly and the signature "B" logo is instantly recognisable. Style it with everything from swim coverups to denim to slip dresses.
