If you aren't already familiar with Maia and Alex Shibutani [1], allow this captivating ice dancing performance to make you big fans of the talented duo. The sister and brother pair from Team USA, who adorably call themselves the Shib Sibs [2], delivered a knockout performance to a medley of PĂ©rez Prado mambo songs at the 2018 US Nationals on Jan. 5. Maia said that she "felt really good out there" during the Short Dance performance [3] and that she and Alex "did our thing." Their enthusiasm and precision paid off, because the Shibutanis placed first [4] in their category that day.
"We were listening to Perez Prado's library of music [5] and I heard 'Mambo No. 8,' and we're always trying to push the boundaries of what we're doing," Alex said in a statement. The siblings are known for putting their personality into unique performances, with past music choices including Michael Jackson [6] and Coldplay. Watch the video of the perfectly synchronised performance for yourself above, and prepare to get the urge to dance! The Winter Olympics air live beginning Feb. 8.
