Apple Cider Vinegar For Sunburn

Apple Cider Vinegar to the Rescue! You Can Even Use It on Sunburns

Sunny days are almost here, and we couldn't be more excited. Whether you're planning on going to the beach or out for a run, soaking up some vitamin D is always a good idea — until, of course, you get that dreaded sunburn.

While there are many natural remedies you can use to soothe a sunburn, apple cider vinegar (ACV) is one that has potent antibacterial properties. ACV should only be used to treat minor sunburns and should never be applied to a sunburn that is severe or blistering.

Because it's an antiseptic and an astringent, "It will prevent the burn from becoming infected, and relieve the pain, itching, and inflammation," Rhonda Q. Klein, MD/MPH, FAAD, told POPSUGAR.

The way you apply ACV to a sunburn is extremely important. Diane Elizabeth, founder of Skin Care Ox, advised us to dilute ACV with water in at least a 1:2 ratio. "Before applying the apple cider vinegar, make sure to run cool water over the burn for a few minutes (this will help to cool the burn). Then, dab a cotton ball in the ACV solution and lightly apply to the sunburn," Elizabeth recommended.

Simple as that!
