Harley Pasternak's "Oatmeal" Hack Is the Weight Loss Breakfast We've Been Waiting For

Nutritionist and celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, MSc, is the king of simple weight loss tips [3], and he isn't shy about sharing his opinion on diets [4], nor about what he thinks you should [5] — and shouldn't [6] — be eating!

And while we've known about his famous breakfast smoothie for weight loss [7] for a while, he's got a new trick up his sleeve as of late: swapping your morning oats for hot jicama cereal! That's right — heat up that crisp root veggie to add tons more vitamin C (see ya, flu season) and extra fiber (one of his pillars of weight loss [8]) to your morning meal.

Harley tossed his with cinnamon (hooray for anti-inflammatory, blood-sugar stabilizing spices [9]!), as well as "apple, walnuts, whey, and a lil water" — so it looks like he amped up the protein to make this meal more macro balanced [10]. Needless to say, we're heading to Trader Joe's to pick up some jicama immediately.
