How to Eat Keto at Chipotle

On Keto and Craving Chipotle? Here's Exactly What You Should Order

If you're all in on the keto diet, you've already grieved a very dramatic breakup with Chipotle's warm, crunchy chips and overstuffed burritos. But even if your own menu has changed, you won't have much luck convincing your favourite food chains to stop tempting you with the carby goodness you're working so hard to avoid. When tacos come calling, use this guide to order a keto-friendly compromise.

The key is avoiding high-carb foods like rice, beans, and tortillas and replacing them with keto-approved foods like veggies and avocado. With just a few simple tips, you can put together a meal so tasty and filling, you'll (almost) forget about those chips. Here's how to do it:

  1. Start with a salad: You want the base of your meal to be a salad with romaine lettuce. From there, you get to have some fun.
  2. Add double meat: Any of Chipotle's meat options will work here. Try double chicken or a mix of chicken, beef, and pork.
  3. Pile on the veggies: Fajita veggies are your friend. Lots of food and very few carbs.
  4. Swap salad dressing for salsa: Red or green salsa will give your salad flavour, without tacking on carbs.
  5. Make it cheesy and creamy: Shredded cheese, queso, and sour cream will up the fat content of your meal, so why not have all three?
  6. Get the guac: Avocado is everyone's favourite healthy fat and worth the upcharge. Adding fat to your meal will leave you feeling fuller, longer.
  7. Skip everything else: There are a few salad toppings you should pass on because of their carb content. These include the honey vinaigrette dressing, rice, beans, and corn salsa. You'll also have to forgo that side of chips, but you already knew that.
