One viral photo, however, has gotten people talking about just how much sugar is in each one — and it might be more than you thought. One Cadbury Creme Egg has 26.5 grams of sugar, or 29 percent of the UK's daily recommendation, according to the Guideline Daily Amount. The US's daily sugar recommendation is only 50 grams, meaning a Cadbury Creme Egg contains more than half.

A gift shop in the UK called The Little Red Hut Home & Gifts shared a photo on Facebook of a Cadbury Creme Egg next to a pile of sugar — six and a half teaspoons, aka the exact amount in the popular chocolate. "Warning, may upset Creme Egg lovers," the person behind the post wrote. Fifteen thousand comments and more than 7,000 shares later, it's safe to say that a lot of Cadbury fans are buzzing about it.

Nutritionists will tell you that added sugar is OK in moderation, so this jarring side-by-side image has us reconsidering how many of these precious eggs we'll unwrap during Easter. There's no reason to pass up on sweets altogether, but taking a look at the sugar and calories in Easter chocolates might inspire smarter decisions.
