Javier Fernández's Free Skate Program Should Be Called "Stud on Ice"

16/02/2018 - 11:04 PM

People are absolutely obsessed with Javier Fernández [1], and for good reason. The two-time world champion [2] and six-time consecutive European champion is heading into the Olympics men's free skate program [3] with one hell of a routine set to "Man of La Mancha," and we're all waiting with bated breath to see if he can nail it in the icy arena in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on Friday night.

And with effortless style and showmanship like Javier's, we don't have doubts that this performance — which he performed at the ISU competition in early 2018 — will be a showstopper in South Korea [5] (seriously, we can't wait to see the Twitter reactions).

Javier is slated to be neck and neck points-wise with his training-mate and friend, Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu [6], who just barely outperformed Javier in the men's short program technical round. Regardless of who stands on what level of the podium, we know we're in for a serious treat all around.
