Kayla Itsines inspires millions with her super-effective bikini body guides (BBG) and online workouts. Her plan is challenging and people have had amazing transformations. After all, the proof is in the pudding; Kayla herself is in incredible shape. So to get her toned legs and enviable abs, you would think Kayla works out for hours every day and eats a strict diet. Turns out, her approach to fitness is actually simple and totally doable.
Kayla revealed in an Instagram post what she eats and exactly how often she works out. She exercises three to four days a week for just 28 minutes (you can check out one of her circuit workouts here). That's right — she doesn't spend half her life in the gym or log hours on the treadmill. She also walks for 30 minutes five days a week, and prefers weight training over running.
As for what she eats, Kayla said she eats a Mediterranean diet. Voted the best overall diet by the US News and World Report, the Mediterranean diet is rich in leafy greens and other vegetables, healthy fats such as olive oil, nuts, and fish, and whole grains. Plus, followers of the Mediterranean diet can enjoy a glass (or two) of wine, preferably red wine, a few times a week.
Take it from Kayla: fitness should be enjoyable and fun and fit into your schedule. If you find a diet and workout routine that you genuinely enjoy, you're more likely to stick to it.
