Watching Margot Robbie give the performance of a lifetime in I, Tonya was proof that she's an immensely talented actress whose career is only just getting started. And there's no denying that Margot has played quite a few roles in the past that require her to be in tip-top shape, like her lead role in The Wolf of Wall Street and Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad.
I, Tonya was no different. Margot had no choice but to whip herself into the best shape of her life in order to play the part of legendary Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding, and the proof is all over her body. For four months, she trained for four hours a day, five days a week. She was even busy working out and training on Christmas Eve that year! There were many falls and many times when she had to pick herself up and fight through the pain. It paid off, though, because Margot won best actress in a comedy at the 2018 Critics' Choice Awards.
Margot admits that she didn't realize how difficult it was going to be to learn how to ice skate — especially considering how quickly she picked up boxing, which was her main workout to get ready to play Harley in Suicide Squad. When she was preparing for that role, she spent three hours a day almost every day of the week training boxing and doing Pilates and ballet-type workouts. She also did a lot of jump rope cardio.
As for her washboard abs, those came from a lot of hard work. In preparation for Suicide Squad, she and her trainer did a lot of outer-thigh work with high reps and low weights, and this helped created long, lean muscles that went all the way up her waist. After that, when training for I, Tonya, Margot followed Tonya's advice: "She was like, 'Just do sit-ups.' So many sit-ups." It's no wonder her core is looking so flat and toned!
