As a 5'2" woman who's come to terms with her modest chest, finding workout clothes that fit me — let alone flatter me — is not an easy feat. I used to just accept the fact that every pair of leggings would require hemming and that all sports bra would flatten my already nearly flat chest . . . until I finally tried Outdoor Voices last year. The trendy, activewear uniform that took over my Instagram feed in 2017 was more than just hype, as I would learn. The 3/4 Two-Tone Leggings and the matching Athena Crop are what initially hooked me, but it wasn't until I came across OV's Steeplechase Bra ($55) that I truly fell head over heels for the brand.
Flattering doesn't even begin to describe this bra. Its product description promises "No. More. Uniboob." while providing just the right amount of lift and support for low-impact activities. The best part is that although it offers compression, it's so incredibly comfortable that I can sleep and lounge in it all-day long without ever feeling like it's too tight, thanks to its four-way stretch. The bra was also obviously designed with active lifestyles in mind, so you can trust its sweat-wicking fabric to get you through yoga, jogs, and hikes without compromising style or function.
Upon receiving so many compliments on the Classic Dove colour, I immediately bought a second pair in Oatmeal. It does run pretty true to size (I wear an XS), but I'd recommend sizing up if you're on the bustier end. The cups are also removable in case you're looking for a more subtle lift.
On days when I'm wearing the Steeplechase while running errands or hanging out with friends, it's also perfect to style like a bralette. Whether I'm wearing a low-cut sweater or a sleeveless muscle tank, this bra peeks through just enough to add dimension to my outfit. The fact that the band contrasts its iconic heathered texture also differentiates it from other products I've tried that often emphasize the sporty in sports bras.
I've honestly never felt so confident and comfortable in a sports bra (or bra in general!) before coming across this OV staple. And the perk of being able to wear it both inside and outside the gym makes this one an absolute must have.
