Despite how delicious it is, there is a lot of information for and against peanut butter [1]. But the results of a study into diagnosing early Alzheimer's [2] found that the nut butter can help in expediting diagnoses.

According to researchers, placing an amount of peanut butter on the end of a ruler and testing a patient's ability to smell its distinctive scent can help doctors detect whether or not an individual is suffering from the early stages of the degenerative disease.

The science behind it is based on the fact that the inability to smell something can indicate degeneration in the olfactory nerve, which is usually the first to be affected by degenerative diseases.
