When it comes to making a statement, Christina Applegate [1] takes the cake. The "Dead to Me" star was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis [2] in 2021 and has been incredibly outspoken about the condition in recent years — from giving public life updates [3] to rocking an "FU MS" manicure at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony [4]. But one of her most recent and notable statements was the customised "FU MS" cane she brought to the Screen Actor Guild Awards [5] in February. The actor walked the red carpet with a custom cane from Neo Walk, a UK walking stick company, that read "FU MS" down the side.

Now, Applegate is collaborating with that same company to design a similarly bold cane for others who need it. The special edition cane features an "FU MS" removable tag and an engraveable metal collar that can be personalized with a message of your choosing. The cane itself is clear acrylic and features a black DNA strand in the centre. Plus, it offers plenty of customization, including the handle style, stick length, grip specification, and strap colour.

Applegate was first introduced to NeoWalk through her friend Selma Blair [6], who has also been vulnerable about her years-long journey with MS. "I saw Selma Blair's canes and fell in love with them. If I need to have a mobility aid, I might as well have a cool one. Lyndsay [founder of Neo Walk] and I became friends and we decided to create one together that benefits the community," Applegate says, as quoted on the Neo Walk website.

You can now shop the FUMS cane [7] (£120, around $150) and Neo Walk has agreed to donate 5 percent of the gross sales from this stick to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America [8] and MS Society UK [9]. As for whether or not Applegate will be taking on similar projects in the future, the verdict is still out. This collaboration is one of the few Applegate has done since announcing that she'd be stepping away from acting.

"Christina needs to focus on herself right now," an unnamed friend of hers recently told People [10]. "What she chooses to share with the public is very real and in her own time, but her energy and focus right now needs to be on taking care of herself and her family as she learns how to live with MS. MS affects everyone differently so she needs to tune into what works for her and what triggers her flare ups."
