Sport can be hugely empowering for young women — but it also comes with feelings of self-consciousness, particularly around skin, according to a survey conducted by Venus. More than a third of UK women don’t want to participate in sport because they’re worried about the way their skin looks, while 1 in 10 feel extremely uncomfortable exposing their skin whilst playing sport*. Nearly half said they would feel more confident in their own skin if they saw more women in sport in the media, advertising, on TV, or on social media who reflect the way they look*. To help normalise what real skin looks like, we're teaming up with Venus to champion women footballers who overcame their insecurities to follow their dreams of playing sport. Join Venus in rewriting the rules on and off the pitch around what women athletes should look like, making room for all women in sport.
