YouTuber Emma Chamberlain Discusses How She's Taking Care of Her Mental Health at Home

Emma Chamberlain [1] is candid on camera — that's her specialty as a YouTuber [2]. She is unapologetically herself and has been open about her mental health, namely the depression she started experiencing in high school [3]. In a new campaign from The Child Mind Institute called #WeThriveInside, Chamberlain films herself at home discussing how she's been coping with feelings of isolation during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in particular.

"I've struggled with depression and anxiety since I was younger, and I know that during times of isolation, it can get a little bit worse [4]," Chamberlain says on camera. To stay positive and take care of herself, she's been connecting with the people she loves, escaping into the world of video games and movies, keeping organised at home, letting her creativity flow by working on art and making YouTube videos, and exercising as much as she can.

They and their families will be able to access information and clinical care via telehealth services [6]. You can also donate to the nonprofit's COVID-19 relief fund at childmind.org/donate [7].
