I am definitely a coffee gal. When I go to bed at night, I look forward to the cold brew I'm going to have in the morning. And by late afternoon, I usually reach for a second cup of Joe for another boost of caffeine to get me through the rest of the day and prepare me for my evening workout. However, coffee can be a little too acidic for me, and I sometimes get a stomachache from consuming so much of it. And I can't have a pre-workout drink too late in the day or I'll be up for hours.

Luckily, I have found a tasty new way to get in some more caffeine to prepare me for my workouts: the House of Wise Strength Gummy ($50). House of Wise is a woman-owned CBD brand that released this gummy in late September, and founder and CEO Amanda Goetz said this formula was developed specifically for workouts.

Unlike other pre-workout supplements that can make you jittery, this Strength Gummy has 15 milligrams of CBD that is supposed to aid in calmness, just 60 milligrams of caffeine (for reference, a cup of coffee has about 100 milligrams of caffeine, and some pre-workout drinks can have 200 milligrams or more), B vitamins, and 10 milligrams of beetroot juice extract, which is supposed to help your red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body better. I also like that each gummy is individually wrapped so you can throw one in your bag if you need to eat it on the go.

You take the gummy 30-45 minutes before a workout, and it provides a nice boost of energy and focus without being overwhelming or giving the tingles of traditional pre-workout drinks. I popped one before a 30-minute indoor cycling ride, and I found that it got me just amped enough to take on the workout and power me through, yet I had no problems falling asleep a few hours later.

The Strength Gummy also has a pleasant but not overwhelming taste, sort of like a berry lemonade; some pre-workout drinks taste too artificial and have a bad aftertaste. The only thing to note about these gummies is that you need 30-45 minutes (about 40 minutes was my sweet spot) before they really kick in for your workout, so I haven't taken them in the morning because I usually roll out of bed and jump right on my Spin bike. So as long as you have a little bit of time before you exercise and you're looking for a more natural supplement, give House of Wise Strength Gummies a try.
