Ten months after giving birth to her daughter, Camryn [1], Allyson Felix broke the record for the most gold medals ever won [2] by a single track and field athlete in IAAF World Championships history. As she heads to Tokyo to compete in her fifth Olympics [3] — an impressive feat within itself — Felix is just one medal away from earning the title of most decorated Olympian in women's track and field history [4] and joining Carl Lewis as the most decorated athlete in Team USA track and field history. So how many Olympic medals does Felix have exactly?

In total, Felix has clinched nine Olympic medals [5] (six gold, three silver) since making her Olympic debut in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. There, she medaled second in the 200-meter race. The following Olympic Games in 2008, Felix took home her first gold in the 4x400-meter relay and the silver in the 200-meter race. At the London 2012 games, Felix won three consecutive gold medals in the 200-meter, 4x100-meter, and 4x400-meter. Then in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Felix found herself back on the podium, securing two gold medals in both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays and a silver in her individual race, the 400-meter dash.

The nine-time Olympic medalist is set to run the 400-meter dash in Tokyo and given her Olympic history, she's likely to compete for Team USA in the 4x400-meter relay as well as the mixed-gender 4x400-meter [6]. Should she race and medal in all three events as predicted, she'll be a 12-time Olympic medalist, nine of those possibly being gold.

While there's potential for Felix to smash records and make history in Tokyo, this year's Games are even more sentimental because it's her first Olympics as a mom. "It was really special [7]," Felix told NBC in an interview after qualifying for Tokyo. "I shared a moment with my own daughter and obviously she can't understand everything that's gone on for the past couple of years, but I just can't wait to share this story with her — about how she's been my driving force."

To describe Felix's resume as well-accomplished would be an understatement. Currently, the runner has 27 medals [8] under her belt, 18 of those being world championship medals (13 of those being gold [9]).
