Many athletes on the Navarro College cheer team stand out. I mean, that's the whole appeal of putting together a trophy-winning, kickass group of tumblers, stunters, and flyers: to be unstoppable and, most importantly, unforgettable. But, if there's one cheerleader we grew to love in Cheer, the emotional roller coaster of a Netflix docuseries [1] that delves deep into the world of taped ankles and full-outs, it's Lexi Brumback. She's that wild child tumbler from Houston with a troubled past but seemingly bright future thanks to the Navarro cheerleading program, coach Monica Aldama, and its members.
At the end of Cheer, we learn that, despite all of the triumph at the National Championships in Daytona, Lexi was cut from the team after illegal substances were allegedly found in the car that she and her friends were in. According to Lexi's All Star coach Calvin Beene, she took the blame. As Monica mentioned many times, the cheer program has a zero-tolerance policy.
This was devastating, but Lexi actually confirmed on Jan. 15 that, in a surprising plot twist to the plot twist, she's back in Corsicana and on the team. Seeing someone come so far only to be dropped back into unsteady territory is heartbreaking. But, rest assured that Lexi has returned!
"Honey, I'm home," Lexi wrote on Instagram. She shared a picture alongside fellow cheer-mates Dillon, Jerry (who's back on the team as well [2] despite having looked at other schools), and TT. She also used the elusive hashtag #fiofmu, which reportedly is a coded message that only the Navarro cheerleaders and alumni know [3] after "earning" that knowledge throughout the competition season.
Lexi further confirmed her spot back on the team in her Instagram comments. Jerry, too, commented, "Soooooo happy to have you back!!!" What's more, Lexi tweeted the same picture and a message: "Round 2? I think yes." We're flipping out over this great news and can't wait to see what else this top-tier team has to offer!
