Jennifer Aniston's Ab and Kettlebell Instagram Workout

Jennifer Aniston Gave a Rare Look at Her Workout Routine, Until Her Dogs Interrupted

I don't know about you, but when I picture celebrities working out, they're usually in some high-tech, perfectly lit, Instagram-friendly home gym. They have all the right equipment. They are sweating photogenically while pushing through a crunch circuit. No distractions, no random equipment lying around, just a colourful yoga mat and a sweat session.

So when Jennifer Aniston shared a rare look into her workout routine yesterday, obviously I had to see whether my expectations lived up to reality. For the most part, they did: she's got great lighting, plants peeking in through the windows, neatly-stacked weights and yoga blocks all in their places.

But in today's "celebrities — they're just like us!" moment, I clearly did not factor pets into the equation. As anyone who's ever worked out within range of an animal knows all too well, pets are fascinated by workouts. They stare at you from afar, utterly confused ("what is the human doing?"), sniff your equipment, wander through your legs when you're doing squats, or try to join you on the treadmill. I've had a cat lie down directly beneath me while I was doing a plank. It's fun, it's cute, but it's also like, do you know how close I am to collapsing on top of you right now?

All of that is to say, apparently Aniston can relate. Her Instagram, which featured the actress doing (or at least trying to do) a kettlebell workout, also included cameos from two of her dogs, Clyde and Lord Chesterfield. Aniston's on the floor just trying to get through her bicycle crunches — great choice for targeting the obliques, by the way — and Clyde and Lord Chesterfield are playing tug-of-war down by her feet. Aniston starts her kettlebell squats and Lord Chesterfield gets down on the ground like, "Is it playtime?!"

To Aniston's credit, she doesn't let the dogs distract her from getting her workout in. I would've given up after three crunches and joined the rope-tug game, personally, but Aniston's got those signature abs to work and nothing's getting in her way. And look, her dogs are adorable, and we appreciate their presence. That being said, if Aniston wants to drop a couple more of her go-to exercises next time, we would definitely be OK with that. Until then, we'll just keep doing her ab workout and see if any puppies pop out to play with us, too.
