In Case You Were Wondering, Katelyn Ohashi Has Still Got It –

Many of us were first introduced to former UCLA gymnast Katelyn Ohashi when her Michael Jackson floor routine went viral in 2018 [1]. Then, her routines in 2019 also went viral, and she received six perfect 10s that season alone [2]. Aside from her high-flying tumbling and impressive dance moves, Ohashi was known for her drop splits. It's one thing to do splits on the floor [3], but to drop into them from a few feet in the air is downright impossible for most people.

Ohashi, who graduated last year, still has those drop splits down pat (and flat!). She posted a video on social media, seen above, of her flipping down a strip of floor this week — a dizzying pass consisting of a roundoff, layout with one-and-a-half twists, layout full, layout half, and layout full again. She ended with a huge smile on her face in an iconic drop split to remind us who she is: a gymnastics queen.
