Former "Made in Chelsea" star Louise Thompson has been praised for her honesty with regards to her health, particularly following the birth of her son, Leo. In a recent Instagram story, Thompson opened up about her most recent diagnosis of drug-induced lupus, an autoimmune disease where the body's natural defence system attacks healthy parts of the body.

Thompson was diagnosed after a series of blood tests and took to social media to outline some of the symptoms she has been experiencing. "I'm really tired, but also I get really, really intolerable joint pain, especially if I sit down for any amount of time," she says while describing that her knees were "in agony" when walking to an appointment.

The reality star, who has her own activewear brand Pocket Sport, has also been struggling with mobility. "I've always been so able bodied and so active exercise has been such a big part of my life and it's just so rough having to adapt to all of these new medical conditions," she admits. Lupus is a lifelong condition with no cure, but symptoms can be eased with treatment. "I could cry, how has my life come to this? It all just feels so heavy, there's so much doom and gloom and I can't catch a breath, a break."

This latest health news comes after a distressing year for the reality star. Following the birth of her son in November 2021, which was extremely traumatic, Thompson has been detailing her mental health issues and post-traumatic stress disorder. Only this week she described an intense flashback she experienced in hostpital when coming off morphine.

She also suffers from ulcerative colitis, meaning some medication for her new lupus diagnosis cannot be taken due to her other conditions. "I feel like I'm constantly navigating so many different things," she says in the video.

While it's been an incredibly difficult year for Thompson, her honesty and no-holds-barred posts are a beacon of hope, comfort, and support for others going through similar health issues. Along with her partner, Ryan Libbey, the couple christened baby Leo last month as Thompson captioned a carousel of photos, "New beginnings". Despite this latest diagnosis being another blow, we have no doubt Thompson's unwavering strength will see 2023 be the start of a fresh, new chapter.
