Even if I don't use it, I love knowing it's there to slip a phone into in a pinch. The first thing I noticed about these leggings was how great they felt as the heavier material was sleek to the touch (and also opaque, even on a bright sunny day). But, even though the fabric isn't flimsy, it didn't make me sweat and the light compression and four-way stretch meant it was easy to move without feeling constricted either.
As I'm on the shorter side [7], I ordered a medium petite pair of Old Navy High-Waisted PowerSoft Run Crop Leggings [8] online because the regular length pair I tried on in the store in size small regular was too long. I'd say these hit at the right spot on my 5' 3" frame as they're definitely cropped. (Note: If you are ordering petite, ordering your regular size is fine versus sizing up as the only difference in sizing is the length.)

TBH, I'm not sure why they don't advertise the zippered pocket in the name of these leggings [11] as I totally missed at at first glance online. As you can see, I easily fit my phone, wallet, and keys into the zip pocket on the side with plenty of space left (though I could have opted for just a card or cash for a less visible bulge).
I carried everything I needed — along with my Moonlight Roller skates [12] — for this journey but I've also been wearing these pants nonstop while walking my dog. And, what you can't see from this picture is that the other side has a traditional side pocket [13] so you can split up your goodies (or use that to stash a folding shopping tote for errands).
