These Are My Favourite Wireless Headphones For Strength Training and Running

Fitness and technology are two of my favourite things, and I'm very particular about my gadgets and tech — especially my headphones. I need headphones that have great sound quality, that stay put in my ears, and are wireless so I don't have to worry about yanking them out of my ears every time I swing my arms while running or do an explosive movement.

I've tried a handful of headphones, and I'm obsessed with the Powerbeats Pro Totally Wireless ($200) model. They come in a sleek charging case, which means my headphones won't die on me during a strength session or a long run. I also like that as soon as the case is opened, the headphones are ready to pair with my phone or any bluetooth-capable device. This is important to me because I've had moments where headphones wouldn't sync (and I had to listen to terrible gym music for an hour). Arguably, my favourite feature is the ear autodetection. As soon as the headphones are in your ears, they turn on and if a music app is open, the most recent song I was listening to will automatically start playing.

I've worn the Powerbeats Pro during all types of workouts, and they don't disappoint. I like that they hook over my ears and do not move at all. They can withstand everything from box jumps to long runs without falling out of my ears. I can adjust the sound on each ear bud (great for when annoying people come up to me at the gym; "I can't hear you!"), I can pause my music by pressing a button on the side of the headphones (if I do choose to have a conversation with someone), and the sound quality is amazing. They're also water and sweat resistant, for anyone concerned about damageing the headphones during intense workouts.

Fitness technology is becoming better and sleeker than ever, and if you're looking for headphones that are minimal but still pack power, I think you should try these out. Yes, they're an investment but they're worth it, in my opinion. And when you're not training, they make a great headphone for commuting and walking around. No more cords getting caught on random people's items or on door handles!
