Want Off the Mat? Check Out These Easy-to-Follow Ab Workouts You Can Do Standing Up

If you are dealing with an injury, don't have too much space, or aren't super keen on moving around, there are plenty of ab circuits you can do entirely lying down. Sometimes, though, you just don't feel like doing crunches on your workout mat or a series of endless planks. Sometimes you're in need of variety — and keeping it interesting is the key to making exercise that much more fun.

High knees, standing side crunches, wood chops, ball slams, and more work your abs on your feet. Ahead, check out a list of standing ab workout videos you can follow right at home. Perhaps you need something quick to do while waiting for your pasta to boil, are looking for some midsection burn mid-Netflix binge (cheers to you, Love Is Blind), or want to tack on an ab burner to the end of your sweat session. These will certainly do the trick! You can even stream them at the gym, so what are you waiting for?

Trainer Heather Robertson said you can do this series of standing ab exercises with weights (she's using a 10-pound dumbbell here) or without them. You'll be completing moves like squat and twist, wood chops on both sides, oblique crunches, and standing Russian twists for 30 seconds each, two times through.

Class FitSugar host Anna Renderer leads us in a standing ab workout lasting just 10 minutes. Adding a dumbbell to certain moves like wood chops and high-knee march with figure eight will make them even more challenging.

This HASfit workout video features exercises such as standing leg raise and crunch, bent-over T rotation, and choppers. Add a set of dumbbells or water bottles for extra resistance.

The Bowflex team, led by exercise physiologist Tom Holland, CSCS, presents a standing ab workout lasting a mere six minutes. Here's the setup: four exercises done for 45 seconds each, two times through. You'll do punches, front kicks, standing marches, and cross crunches.

Heather is back with a 10-minute standing ab workout, this time entirely bodyweight. You'll be doing two rounds of 10 different exercises including knee drives, oblique twists, pike kicks, and high knees. Note: one thing I love about Heather's workouts on YouTube is that they feature good music to keep you motivated throughout.

Here's another superquick ab workout from Tom and Bowflex. It only includes four exercises that you'll be doing for 45 seconds each, and it'll go by in a flash!

HASfit is back with another 13-minute standing ab workout. You'll get through staggered chop plus knee raise (basically just a wood chop plus a knee raise), around the worlds, standing pikes, and oblique crunches. Ready for it?
