Popsugar Health & Fitness Covid-19 Team USA Wash With US Challenge Watch Team USA Athletes Share Their Favourite Olympic Memories While Washing Their Hands 2 April 2020 by Samantha Brodsky Image Source: Getty / Pongsak Tawansaeng / EyeEm Much like the World Health Organisation's Safe Hands Challenge, where people are practicing hand hygiene on camera, Team USA members are sharing videos of themselves scrubbing away thoroughly while reminiscing about their favourite Olympic and Paralympic moment. It's called the Wash With US Challenge, and it's another way to continue highlighting the importance of washing your hands. So far, athletes who've participated include Hilary Knight, an ice hockey forward who was a member of the gold-medal-winning US women's hockey team in 2018, as well as Olympic gold and silver medalist Laurie Hernandez, a superstar gymnast who was one of five women to represent Team USA at the Rio Olympics. Also included in this challenge are Paralympians such as triathloner Melissa Stockwell and swimmer Mallory Weggemann. Stockwell's favourite Olympic memory, for instance, was her bronze-place finish in the Paratriathlon in 2016, where the US swept the podium. As for Hernandez, she spoke about winning team all-around gold by a huge margin of over eight whole points with fellow "Final Five" members Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian, and Aly Raisman. If you're feeling nostalgic because of the lack of live sports on TV and the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Games — we sure are! — the Wash With US Challenge from Team USA is a great way to remind yourself that cleaning your hands helps mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus all while reliving Olympic moments straight from the athletes themselves.
