Meet the 11 Women Who Set the Prefontaine Classic Track on Fire This Weekend

Over the weekend, the Prefontaine Classic returned to Eugene, Oregon since 2019 (the 2020 meet was cancelled due to COVID-19), reuniting track and field stars from around the globe including Team USA's Sha'Carri Richardson. Even though it has been just a couple weeks since the end of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, many Olympians made their way to the historic Prefontaine Classic meet.

The energy of the Games must've made its way to the USA as competition was fierce across events and many records were broken. Ahead check out the 11 women who won at the Prefontaine Classic including four who broke records!

Team Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah: Winner of the Women's 100m

Finishing first in the women's 100m, Team Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah ran the second fastest time (10.54) in the race's history with the fastest time set by track legend Florence Griffith Joyner (10.49).

Team Switzerland's Mujinga Kambundji: Winner of the Women's 200m

Team USA's Athing Mu: Winner of the Women's 800m

Winning the women's 800m with a time of 1:55.04, Team USA's Athing Mu crushed her Tokyo Olympics record time of 1:55.21, therefore setting a new record time.

Team USA's Rebecca Mehra: Winner of the Women's 1500m

Team USA's Dalilah Muhammad: Winner of the Women's 400m Hurdles

With her 52.77 win, Team USA's Dalilah Muhammad set a new meet record on the women's 400m hurdles. The previous record was held by fellow Team USA member Sydney McLaughlin with a time of 52.85 which was set in 2019.

Team Kenya's Faith Kipyegon set a new meet record for the women's 1500m with a time of 3:53.23, beating out the previous meet record (3:56.41) she set in 2016.
