Training Complete! See Team USA Women Gymnasts Prep For Their Highly Awaited Olympics Debut

22/07/2021 - 08:45 PM

Women's artistic gymnastics at the Olympics will, without a doubt, be a true highlight of the Tokyo Games, with athletes representing Team USA leading the charge. Ahead of their qualification round on Sunday, July 25, the four-person US squad [1] and individual athletes Jade Carey [2] and MyKayla Skinner [3] completed podium training (an official precompetition practice) while sporting jewel-covered leotards [4]. We'll know after that round which two athletes out of those six will make it into each event final for vault, bars, beam, and floor as well as the all-around final. Additionally, we'll see if the US is one step closer to adding onto its two-time Olympic team gold streak. If all goes as planned, these women will qualify through to the team final [5] and come home with the win.

Keep scrolling for a glimpse into podium training on July 22. You'll witness Simone Biles [6] executing her soon-to-be signature Yurchenko double pike vault [7], scroll through group images from the session, and more. It gets us beyond ready for gymnastics at the Olympics — and it's right around the corner!

Here, you'll see Biles practice routines on three out of the four events: vault, bars, and beam. Some highlights: the massive Yurchenko double pike that will bear her name if she officially competes it at the Olympics and the double-twisting double backflip beam dismount [9] that's already named after her.
