Whoop 4.0 is an activity tracker that can be worn on or off your wrist thanks to Whoop Body apparel. Whoop apparel is compatible with only the Whoop 4.0 and features pods (small pockets) that hold the sensor securely to your skin, offering continuous data collection across multiple locations on the body. After testing numerous locations on the body, aside from the wrist, Whoop discovered the strongest pulse points where heart rate could be measured with great accuracy and comfort were the upper arm, left side of the torso, waist, and lower leg. So that's where you'll find these pods on the apparel. The apparel is a great option for athletes who need or prefer having their wrists free of accessories.
The Whoop 4.0 tracks important metrics used during strain (workouts), recovery, and sleep. It has no screen, but the info can be viewed on your phone. You're able to track the amount of strain (stress) your body goes through during workouts, as well as max heart rate, average heart rate, and calories burned. To track recovery, the Whoop monitors your heart rate variability (HRV), your resting heart rate (RHR), and the amount and quality of your sleep. When your recovery is high (shown as a green bar), your body is ready to take on strain (a workout), and when it's low (shown as a yellow or red bar), it's a sign you're at risk of injury or overtraining.
