BTS, Lady Gaga, and Megan Thee Stallion: These Pop-Song Workouts Got Us Sweating in 2020

04/12/2020 - 05:52 PM

At long last, 2020 is coming to an end, and we're looking back at two of the good things this year did bring us: great tunes and great workouts. With gyms closed, we were all over the pop-song workout game this year, and these 12 routines were set to some of our favourites.

We've got abs-focussed workouts to Lady Gaga [1], legs and glutes to Rosalia [2], and dance cardio to BTS [3], Billie Eilish [4], and Megan Thee Stallion [5], just to name a few. All of these routines are equipment-free and guaranteed to get you sweating in your garage, basement, bedroom, or wherever you're working out these days. Turn up the music and let's get to it!

Dance Cardio Workout: "Ice Cream" by Blackpink feat. Selena Gomez

We love any and all Blackpink-themed workouts [7], so this short-and-sweet sweat sesh set to "Ice Cream" was right up our alley. Join The Fitness Marshall for squats, body rolls, and the best dance moves.

Full-Body Dance Workout: "Rain on Me" by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande

There are so many great workouts set to this song, but this one from Deja Lewis of Deja Fit Beauty stands out. We love the combo of bodyweight moves (think squats and lunges) with fun and beginner-friendly choreo from the music video.

Dance Cardio Workout: "ON" by BTS

The most epic song of the year deserves a dance workout that gets your heart pounding, and that's exactly what this Mylee Dance routine does! Full of jumps, kicks, and marching sequences, you'll feel powerful (and exhausted) afterwards.

Dance Cardio Workout: "WAP" by Cardi B feat. Megan Thee Stallion

This fast-paced workout to "WAP" will have you feeling strong and sweaty, and between the squats and the knee drives, your abs will be shaaaaking.

Ab Workout: "Rain On Me" by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande

Yes, this song deserves two spots on this list. Canfitpro-certified trainer Mikala Czubak leads this ab workout that's just three minutes long, but will get your core shaking. We think Lady Gaga [8] would approve.

Dance Workout: "Physical" by Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa just nailed it with "Physical," which instantly went to the top of my workout playlist [9] this year. The choreography in this quick dance workout from Chakaboom Fitness hits every beat perfectly. Who needs to go to sleep when you can work out to Dua Lipa?

Full-Body Dance Workout: "Dynamite" by BTS

Hard to find a song that lifted our spirits more this year than "Dynamite," and this full-body burner from YouTuber MadFit hits every beat. That plank sequence hurts just watching.

Legs and Cardio Workout: "TKN" by Rosalía and Travis Scott

NASM-certified trainer Ana Alarcón leads this workout set to the undeniably-catchy "TKN" by Rosalía and Travis Scott, and it's full of donkey kicks, planks with leg lifts, squats, lunges, and more to work your glutes and legs.

Cardio Dance Workout: "Positions" by Ariana Grande

"Positions" deserved a sexy and sweaty cardio routine, and of course The Fitness Marshall gave it to us. There's plenty of squatting, jumping, and planking to put your muscles to work.

Dance Cardio Workout: "Savage" by Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncé

Feel like a savage with this sexy and strong dance cardio workout set to Megan Thee Stallion's viral hit.

Hip-Hop Cardio Workout: “Yummy" by Justin Bieber

You'll feel strong, confident, and oh-so-sweaty after this quick hip-hop cardio routine set to Justin Bieber's "Yummy."

Dance Cardio Workout: "Therefore I Am" by Billie Eilish

This list just wouldn't be complete without some Billie Eilish [10], and this routine from Mylee Dance is so mesmerising to watch!
