There's nothing quite like fresh corn on the cob [3] when it's in season during the Summer, but the only annoying part is cutting it. Leave it to culinary queen Ina Garten to share a quick tip on how to cut it without making a huge mess. Cutting the corn in a downward motion [4] is the common method; however, this usually causes kernels to fly all over your kitchen. Ina's helpful trick is to place a clean kitchen towel on the counter first. Then, cut the kernels off the cob (using a sharp knife) right on top of the towel. You can then scoop up the kernels by picking up the towel and pour them all into a bowl in one swift motion.
In the video above, Ina says, "When the corn is in season in East Hampton, I love to make corn salad [5] and sauteed corn [6]. But how do you get the kernels off the cob without getting them all over your kitchen? I worked out a system." After you watch her, you'll think, "How easy is that?"
