Cheesy, melty pasta goodness just got a gluten-free upgrade at Trader Joe's. Thanks to the eagle eye of Instagram user @traderjoesinsider [2], we got a peek at the grocery store's new mac and cheese, and let's just say we're excited.
Trader Joe's fans have long been dedicated to the frozen entrees [3] offered in the chain's aisles, but the introduction of this gluten-free, four-cheese meal is a definite game changer. While TJ's used to offer a different, two-cheese option for gluten-free eaters, the brand went back to the drawing board [4] and modelled its newest creation after the oh-so-popular Diner Mac 'n Cheese, which is famously thick and creamy.
Now, shoppers can dig into a cheese sauce made with a mix of cheddar, swiss, havarti, and gouda, which is paired with a gluten-free rotini (aka fusilli) made with corn, rice, quinoa, and lentil flours. Yum! At only $3 a box, the real challenge will be refraining from buying in bulk (but we get it if you do).
