How to Make a Dairy Queen Blizzard at Home

It's Unbelievably Easy to Make a DQ Blizzard at Home — Here's How

I live for Dairy Queen Blizzards. The DQ in my hometown is THE place to be in the summer, and I've eaten more M&M's Blizzards than I care to count. But DQ isn't as easily accessible in New York City — where I currently live — which means if I want to experience that DQ deliciousness, I had to figure out a way to do it at home. Luckily, the Copykat blog demonstrated how easy it actually is to make a Blizzard from scratch, so I took that inspiration and made my favourite one: mint M&M's with chocolate ice cream.

It's not a typical menu item at Dairy Queen, but it's easy enough to make (trust me, it's all I've ordered for years). But just like your favourite Blizzard is whatever you want it to be, this recipe is, too. You can easily exchange the M&M's for cookie dough, Oreos, Snickers, or anything else you want to blend into the ice cream. The key is softening the ice cream so it has the consistency of soft serve but not overdoing it so that it's still solid (you can even do the upside-down test at home, too). The rest is up to you. Keep reading for the full recipe, and be prepared to be in a Blizzard-making frenzy!
