To many, grabbing a Starbucks coffee [1] before work is an essential part of their morning. And while you can still get your Starbucks fix right now during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, store limitations have been put in place to help reduce the spread of the virus [2]. But with more and more workplaces closing [3] every day, it might only be a matter of time before Starbucks follows suit.

In a March 15 statement from Rossann Williams, Starbucks's executive vice president and president of US and Canada company-operated business, customers will still be able to get "grab-and-go" coffees, meaning you can order via the mobile app, drive-through, delivery, or café, but all outdoor and indoor seating is closed. She ensured all stores would be modifying condiment bars while the handoff plane is being modified [4] on a store-by-store basis. Additionally, cash-handling procedures are being altered, and although it's not required to wear gloves, they will be available for workers interacting with customers. Stores that also operate in high social-gathering locations, like college campuses or malls, will temporarily close.

Be sure to check your local Starbucks locations for more details as cities that are experiencing high volumes of coronavirus cases, including Seattle and New York, will reduce store hours or temporarily close as well. The full statement can be read here [5].

While you can still grab your morning coffee as of now, if you can avoid it and make a cup at home, that's definitely recommended to coincide with social distancing and self-isolation. Things are also constantly and quickly changing, so be sure to keep checking Starbucks's website and social media channels for real-time updates on store closures.
