I live in Alaska, so my search for this new autumnal treat was a bit tricky. Thankfully, a pack of these beauties was waiting for me at a sneaky little end-cap in the corner of Target, defying the sold-out status I got from an employee. Currently, these Oreos are only available in select stores and through specialty retailers online. Eager to get a taste of Fall, I grabbed my bounty and headed to the nearest self-checkout.
As soon as I got home, I opened up the package and was immediately greeted with a whiff of hot apple cider smell. The Oreos seemed like they were more stuffed than regular Oreos, despite the packageing not indicating the coveted "double stuf" status. I took a bite and was met with an unexpected crunch from the frosting, just like the sugary crunch on the outside of an apple cider donut. They really do taste like what they advertise. They are sugar, spice, and everything nice. The flavours — cinnamon, apple, donut icing — are all nicely balanced, if on the sweet side, and really do evoke an apple cider donut.
I made a steamy cup of hot spiced tea to go with the treats and enjoyed them on a cool day. Fall comes early here in Alaska, and it was the ideal day to try this new Oreo flavour. So lean into the upcoming season by putting on your coziest sweater, making a tasty cup of tea, and trying these delicious new Oreos that will bring back all your favourite Fall memories.
