Homemade White Hot Chocolate
Original Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
2 oz. white chocolate or ⅓ cup white chocolate chips
⅛ tsp vanilla or peppermint extract
¼ cup marshmallows
Whipped cream to taste
Red and green sprinkles (optional)
Your most festive holiday mug (also optional, but strongly encouraged)
Directions
- In a small pot over low heat, melt chocolate chips with milk. Avoid turning up the heat any higher than medium-low, as the milk will curdle if brought to a boil.
- Whisk continuously until the chocolate has melted, then remove the pot from the stove and add the vanilla or peppermint extract. (Be sure not to use spearmint extract, as this will make your hot chocolate taste like toothpaste rather than candy cane.)
- Add marshmallows to the bottom of your mug before pouring the hot chocolate-milk mixture in.
- Top with whipped cream and decorate with sprinkles. Enjoy!
