They say your home is a reflection of your state of mind, and that certainly seems to ring true for Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis's Los Angeles property. The couple shared a peek inside their sustainable farmhouse — or "Kuku Farms," as they call it — with Architectural Digest, revealing details in their home that just make sense considering their low-key romance. "We wanted the house to look like an old barn, something that had been here for decades, that was then converted into a house. But it also had to feel modern and relevant," Ashton explained to AD. Doesn't that also feel like an accurate description of the couple and their relationship?

Their eccentric house has been a passion project five years in the making. Ashton and Mila started off by building their own Pinterest boards and seeing what each of their visions looked like. "When we looked at each other's boards, 90 percent of the images we selected were the same, and most of the houses we pinned were designed by Howard [Backen]," the actor said, referring to the architect who ended up designing their home.

"We thought it would be funny to have this incredibly opulent thing hanging in a barn. It kind of takes the piss out of the property."

Hyperfocussed on sustainability and regenerative farming, Mila and Ashton dug a well on the property to irrigate the land and powered their house entirely with photovoltaics. While they loved the idea of a traditional farmhouse, the two also added some unique touches to make their home feel more contemporary, like a 10-foot-long crystal chandelier in their living room that Ashton commissioned on a trip to India. "We thought it would be funny to have this incredibly opulent thing hanging in a barn. It kind of takes the piss out of the property," Mila said. Ahead, see photos of their striking place, which Mila insists is "a home, not an estate."
