If you're anything like me, you're not going to compromise comfort for style, and vice versa. I'm a believer that homes should be lived in and furniture should be used, so I bought a white couch because I thought it looked beautiful in my space, and it did! Within a week of getting said brand-new couch [1], though, I got chocolate on it. This, for many of my friends, would have been a disaster, but I didn't stress too much because I bought a slipcover sofa.
I grew up having a slipcover sofa in our main hangout room, and it was one of the best decisions my parents could have made. For one, it was significantly less stressful when we spilled something, like cereal during Saturday morning cartoons or late-night ice cream, or if my dog jumped up with dirty paws. Just wash and clean the slipcover, and you're good to go. Additionally, this meant we could change the entire decor scheme without having to buy new furniture; that one sofa was pink, yellow, and striped, all at different times.
