Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Chicken Coop Pays Tribute to Son Archie in an Adorable Way

Meghan Markle [1] and Prince Harry sat down for their highly anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey [2] on Sunday night, and in addition to the many heartbreaking and honest revelations [3], viewers were also treated to a rare look at their current life in LA. As Meghan sweetly shared with Oprah that she and Harry actually got married in a secret ceremony three days before their televised royal Wedding [4], Prince Harry squatted down next to them to feed some of the couple's rescued chickens in a t-shirt and jeans. It's Harry like we've never seen him before, but this comes as part of the Duke and Duchess's journey to embracing a "back to basics" lifestyle since stepping down as senior working royals last year [5].

Meghan and Harry gave Oprah a tour of the grounds of their Montecito, CA home that they moved to back in July 2020, which includes a coop of chickens rescued from a local factory farm. "I just love rescuing," Meghan told Oprah. And if you didn't look too closely, you might have missed an adorable and hilarious detail! A plaque on the side of the coop reads "Archie's Chick Inn. Established 2021," after the couple's son, who Meghan revealed will be joined by a baby sister this summer [6]. How cute is that?!

We wouldn't be surprised if Archie came up with the "Chick Inn" pun himself, considering he's already developed an impressive vocabulary. The couple shared that his current favourite word is "hydrate [7]," and, according to Harry, his son tells everyone to "drive safe" whenever they leave the house. "Drive safe. He's not even two yet!" Meghan gushed. Archie's first word was "crocodile," [8] so it's safe to assume that the red-headed toddler is an animal lover, especially since he's growing up with two rescue dogs, Pula and Guy, in addition to the coop of chickens.

"I mean, what more can you ask for?" Prince Harry said. "Now we've got our family, we got the four of us, and our two dogs." For the couple, something as simple as having a chicken coop and "an outdoor space where I can go for walks with Archie, and we can go for walks as a family and with the dogs," Harry explained, is all part of the happy ending Meghan described to Oprah as "greater than any fairy tale you've ever read."
