I Bought These 16 Pieces to Turn My Tiny Apartment Into a Comfy Bachelorette Pad

19/05/2020 - 11:01 PM

When San Francisco announced a mandatory sheltering in place order [1] due to the pandemic, I knew my apartment would need an overhaul. If I'm going to spend all my time inside my home, it needs to be a place I truly enjoy being morning till night. My stiff sofa and years-old curtains just weren't giving me good vibes anymore, so I decided to commit to completely redecorating my living room since it's my main command centre. I work from home, watch TV, read, and do virtual workout classes all in that particular space.

I made my new sectional sofa [2] the focal point and worked from there with new curtains, artwork, pillows, plants, and lots more. My sister and I live in the apartment and love a good pop of pink, so we leaned into that notion with fun accents that express our personality. It is a bachelorette pad, after all. The finished product makes me smile every time I walk into the room. I'm so comfortable there and the jewel-tone colours make me happy.

Ahead, I curated a shopping guide to everything I bought — hopefully it will inspire you to give your home a little makeover as well.

FirsTime & Co. Geometric Glam Coffee Table

This FirsTime & Co. Geometric Glam Coffee Table [3] ($112) is one of the pieces I kept — I've had it for years and always get compliments on the cool shape.

Anthropologie Mindra Curtain

I am so happy with these Anthropologie Mindra Curtains [4] ($78, originally $108 each) — the lightweight fabric brightens up the room and the pom-poms add some personality.

Bloomscape Potted Spider Plant

I have always wanted to test out Bloomscape, so I bought this Potted Spider Plant [5] ($35) and it arrived to my house ready to go. The packageing was easy to open and there were helpful care instructions inside.

Bloomscape Potted Kimberly Queen Fern

I bought this Bloomscape Potted Kimberly Queen Fern [6] ($65) as well because it's pet-friendly, and my cat chews on everything. I know he'll be safe with this plant.

nuLOOM Vonda Area Rug

This nuLOOM Vonda Area Rug [7] ($119) is another purchase that has lasted me over five years. The quality is great and it pulls the entire room together.

Society6 Vintage Pink Stacks Framed Art Print by sorrythankyou79

I knew I needed some art for the walls and was instantly drawn to this Society6 Vintage Pink Stacks Framed Art Print by sorrythankyou79 [8] ($51, originally $85). As an avid reader, it fits my personality.

Society6 Higher Than Mountains Framed Art Print by cassiabeck

I have been enjoying this Society6 Higher Than Mountains Framed Art Print by cassiabeck [9] ($71, originally $119) too — it includes the key colours in my living room.

Mkono Macrame Plant Hanger

I installed this Mkono Macrame Plant Hanger [10] ($13) for one of my Bloomscape plants [11] — it's affordable and I like the boho vibe.

Abbyson Living Gold Kitchen Bar Cart

This Abbyson Living Gold Kitchen Bar Cart [12] ($200) was easy to assembly and it actually fits quite a lot of bottles.

Hearth & Hand Fringe Throw Blanket

This Hearth & Hand Fringe Throw Blanket [13] ($30) is perfect for summertime and I like the textured weave.

Hearth & Hand Tassel Pillow

To mirror the tassels in the curtains, I got this Hearth & Hand Tassel Pillow [14] ($20) for my sofa.

Décor Therapy Davidson Pleated Velvet Pillow

I needed to add some more millennial pink elements and this Décor Therapy Davidson Pleated Velvet Pillow [15] ($30) was an excellent find.

Opalhouse Round Crochet Throw Pillow

This Opalhouse Round Crochet Throw Pillow [16] ($20) perfectly coordinated with my hot pink chair.

Project 62 Tufted Modern Pattern Square Throw Pillow

For a little texture, I got this Project 62 Tufted Modern Pattern Square Throw Pillow [17] ($20) — it actually looks quite expensive in person.

My Exact Sven Sectional Sofa

The Article Sven Cascadia Blue Right Sectional Sofa [18] ($2,199) comes with two matching bolstered pillows, which is an elegant touch. The back cushions are soft and pillowy but still hold their structure so you're not constantly fluffing them every minute. It's truly my prized possession.

The Magnolia Collection Modern Living Room Accent Chair

My chair is old and out of stock, but I would absolutely love to have this The Magnolia Collection Modern Living Room Accent Chair [19] ($460) instead. It's glam and comfy — the perfect combo.
