Take a Look Inside Michael Jordan's Former Illinois Mansion From His Chicago Bulls Glory Days

20/05/2020 - 10:30 PM

For 19 years, basketball legend Michael Jordan [1], who is at the centre of ESPN's The Last Dance documentary [2], lived in a sprawling Highland Park, IL, mansion. At the time of its auction in 2013, the 56,000-square-foot home boasted nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms. Jordan had the house built to his specifications, including an indoor swimming pool, an indoor basketball court, a skylight above the kitchen table, and massive front gates adorned with his famous number 23. (He eventually got rid of the pool but kept a beautiful infinity pool outside [3].) Go on a full tour of the former Chicago Bull's old residence ahead and scope out some of the coolest spots in and around the house — including what used to be the weight room where he worked out with his championship-winning team.

Michael Jordan's Chicago Home

The Front Gate

The front gate of Michael's former Highland Park, IL, mansion was emblazoned with his iconic jersey number, of course.

The Baghdad Table

Michael's dining room had a custom-made table called the Baghdad table. It was designed to look like a map of Baghdad, Iraq.

Floor-to-Ceiling Windows

Many areas of the house, including this formal area, have floor-to-ceiling windows to allow a ton of light in.

Massive Skylight

The house has a huge skylight over the kitchen to make you feel almost like you're cooking right outside in the sun.

Renovated Kitchen

The huge kitchen was renovated not long before the house was up for sale and was upgraded to include top-of-the-line amenities and every appliance you can imagine.

Infinity Pool

Not only does the mansion have an infinity pool in the yard, but the pool has a small private island in the middle with a little bridge connecting to it.

Meeting Room

Just outside the basketball court is a meeting area where Michael undoubtedly spent time with his former Bulls teammates.

Regulation Basketball Court

Michael's house has a regulation-size basketball court, splashed with his name and the Jumpman logo. He used to have his teammates over on some practice days to lift weights and eat breakfast before going to the official team practice, according to former teammate Randy Brown.

Cigar Room

What had been an exercise area was renovated into cigar and wine rooms. The cigar room is equipped with an air-purification system to keep it from smelling smoky.

Playboy Mansion Doors

The doors leading to a billiards room are actually the doors from the original Playboy Mansion in Chicago. They were on that house until 1974.

Lounge Area

Jordan's favourite area of the house was the upstairs library, this lounge nook, and the pool room next to it.

Tennis Court

The grounds of the mansion housed a tennis court as well as a small golfing area, complete with Jumpman flags.
