Candied apples are no longer the sweetest part of Halloween. Gourds are popping up left and right in all of our favourite Halloween shops, and Target is taking the seasonal spirit to the next level with a collection of fruit-themed jack-o'-lanterns fresh from the produce aisle. A little less spooky than the skull-covered pineapples of Halloween past, the collection is filled with light-up apples, oranges, pineapples, watermelons, strawberries, and more that are surprisingly . . . cute?
Like mini jack-o'-lanterns, the Halloween-themed fruits are the same shape and colour as their edible counterparts, but they have the same handcrafted smiles pumpkins have been rocking for centuries. The collection also features a few fruit-inspired skulls — including a cantaloupe skull with a dragon fruit hat — so it's basically one big, spooky fruit salad come to life. The pieces, available for $5 to $10 online and in stores, are perfect for adding a little trick or treat spirit to any kitchen (or coffee table), and I'm tempted to leave the skull-shaped bell pepper on my counter all year long.
