Trader Joe's Lavender Laundry Products Helped My Anxiety

I Tried Trader Joe's Lavender Laundry Products, and the Calming Scent Helped Ease My Anxiety

As a longtime Trader Joe's aficionado, I'm here to tell you all about the store's lavender laundry products, which I guarantee you'll be persuaded to buy the next time you enter those pearly red gates of heaven. When it comes to detergent, I'm all about "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." However, anything lavender-infused piques my interest, and if it comes from Trader Joe's, I'm that more inclined to buy it. So, here we are: two loads of laundry later and my place smells like a lavender essential oil candle. Talk about feeling relaxed, am I right?

For the full lavender experience, you have to get both the Liquid Lavender Detergent and the Reusable Lavender Dryer Bags. Together, both will cost you less than $15, which I personally think is a steal considering the jug of detergent is 100 fluid ounces — enough for 50 to 100 loads. (Regular loads only require one ounce, while heavier loads or clothes that are extra soiled need two ounces.)

Not to mention, the lavender-scented dryer bags come in a set of four, and each sachet can be reused for up to 10 laundry cycles! TJ's does note that depending on how long of a dry cycle and the textures and materials involved, you may notice a diluted scent after the fifth cycle. The good news is, the chain says you can use the lavender florets within the sachet as a natural air freshener. It also recommends sprinkling the florets on carpet and vacuuming them for "an instant room refresher," which I can't wait to try.

Onto the nitty-gritty: how well does it work? Like I said, I'm a huge fan of lavender-scented products, so I like to consider myself a pretty good judge of things. The jug is marketed as "an eco-friendly liquid detergent with an essential oil-based fragrance," and it really works. The lavender left my clothes smelling fresh and clean, and as a result, I felt more relaxed, which actually helped noticeably ease my anxiety, and it just brought a smile to my face. Coupled with the dryer bag, I was in a lavender oasis without it being too overpowering. I highly recommend these TJ's laundry products if you want to give your laundry an extra dose of softness, relaxation, and comfort.

I also purchased Trader Joe's Wool Dryer Balls for only $5. These are unscented and really don't have much more to offer than the lavender dryer bags. They can help with static and serve as a fabric softener, but are they life changing? No, not really. But! If you're nervous that the combination of detergent with a dryer bag may be lavender overload for you, you can definitely trade out the sachets for a wool ball for a more subtle scent.

Trader Joe's lavender laundry products are officially my new go-to and just might be for you as well. Next load is my bedding, which I have a feeling will make it very difficult to get out of bed for work in the morning!
