We're all made up of a bunch of traits, which we share with people born under the same zodiac sign as us. Although we probably aren't exact matches, we do share enough that we can make generalisations about each sign's personality.

We might share characteristics with signs while some are distinctly our own.

So what are the qualities we have that are important to the world? What is it about each zodiac sign that's so important?

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

Without Aries, there wouldn't be any advancement or progress. Aries teach us to use our intuition [2], take risks but to always do our best and to expect others to do the same. Aries always have their eyes on the prize.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Taurus shows us the importance of appreciation, and they teach us to indulge, to use our senses to see all the beauty in the world, and to work hard so that one may play hard.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Geminis teach us that we need to connect with others and socialise. They believe that communication and the face-to-face exchange of ideas [3] are key elements to our growth as people. Besides, having fun at a social event can be a great way to decompress.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Cancers constantly demonstrate empathy [4]. By their example, they teach us to support and care for other people and to be there for someone in their darkest time to help them to see the light.

Leo (July 23 - Aug. 22)

Leos are about star power and give the world energy and life. Leos can take a blah day and make it seem wonderful and enchanting. We need Leos to show us the magic in the world.

Virgo (Aug. 23 - Sep. 22)

Virgos give us reliability and credibility — they never assume that something is correct and need evidence to prove that it is. Virgos show us to use our brains to decide what's true and what isn't.

Libra (Sep. 23 - Oct. 22)

Libras give us justice and to not just take one side because it's easy, but to view both sides equally. Libras also give us balance [5], which we need when the world seems skewed and unstable.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21)

Scorpios are the most passionate sign of the zodiac, and we need them to ignite our emotions and make life more vibrant and exciting.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Sagittarius give us curiosity [6], and the desire to travel and learn about other people's cultures. Without Sagittarius, we'd never explore the possibilities of life, and everyone would remain static and boring.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

Capricorn gives us strength, dependability, credibility, and support. They teach us that we can depend on our fellow man [7] and that when we need support, there are people to help us.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18)

Aquarius gives us compassion and shows us the value of the uniqueness of every individual. Aquarians are the first to take up a cause and they demonstrate the benefits of fighting for what you believe in and for standing up to authority.

Pisces (Feb. 19 - March 20)

Pisces gives us the gift of creativity and the power of meditation. Pisces show us that expressing one's self through art [8] and ideas is crucial to our well-being, as is slowing down and tuning out the world for a bit.
