July has been a bit of a roller coaster so far (if you weren't already aware, Mercury was in retrograde [1] at the start of the month). While the stars can help predict what's in store for you, what can you expect when it comes to your dating life specifically? POPSUGAR spoke to Narayana Montúfar, senior astrologer at Astrology.com [2], to get some answers on cosmic dos and don'ts this month.
Now that Mercury retrograde in Cancer is over (it ended on 12 July), communication is back on track. But that's not all — some good energy [3] should be coming your way, too. Venus, the planet of love, will be in flirty (and techy) Gemini all month, "balancing the overall energy by adding its light energy into the mix," said Montúfar. "During this time, sexting and cybersex [4] are at an all-time high, and commitment at its lowest since Gemini is a sign that likes to explore all its options." Translation? Don't expect to get into a long-term relationship right now. Think less committal, but also much more forward. "Mars has been making the dating scene even more interesting since it entered fiery Aries at the end of June, giving most signs the confidence to chase their victim," added Montúfar.

Aries (March 21-April 19)
It's all you this month, Aries. "With your ruler Mars in your sign, you are feeling it!" said Montúfar. This might mean you've found someone you're really into or are enjoying playing the field a little bit. Either way, don't make any rash decisions when it comes to relationships, especially since you've got time. "While this newfound kick feels amazing, it might be a good idea to keep things in check," Montúfar added. "After all, Mars will spend the rest of the year here, and you don't want to end up burning yourself out."
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
You've got nothing to worry about this month, as it's all about keeping things light on the dating front. "With your ruler Venus in Gemini all month, you've been weighing your options, and it's not yet time to make a decision," said Montúfar. "For now, keep having fun!"
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Venus is in your sign, making you even more charming than you already are. According to Montúfar, you're a "hot commodity" this month, but you're also figuring out new ways to date, whether that be socially distant dating or new activities with someone you've been casually seeing. "Rushing things would be a bad idea now, since you're still integrating these learnings," she added, so don't make any promises that you don't intent to keep!
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
"With two new moons back-to-back in your sign, you're experiencing an overall rebirth!" said Montúfar. "If you've been too busy for love lately, don't stress. Once Venus enters your sign in early August, your mojo will be back in no time."
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
So far, this summer has been kind of a downer for you in the dating department, but don't worry! "Things start to turn when the brilliant sun enters your sign on July 29, bringing all sorts of attention your way," Montúfar explained. "It's been a tough year, so bask in the glory while you can." Keep an eye out for a new admirer!
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
"This month's new moon in Cancer brings you two weeks of sensual-packed moments," Montúfar told POPSUGAR. "If you're with someone already, enjoy the ride. If you're single and looking, playing the field is totally an option as long as you're into it."
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
July is a time for you to focus on your self-care. "Mars in Aries has most likely brought some drama into your life, creating a rollercoaster that might last for (gulp) the rest of the year," said Montúfar. "When things get intense, take some time away from dating."
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
You've been occupied lately, Scorpio — and that's okay! While things might be heating up with someone, you most likely won't be able to make real time for them this month. "Sexy Mars in Aries is bringing the heat to your love life, but it's also making your life a little too busy for love," Montúfar said. "Things will mellow out once Mars goes retrograde in the fall, giving you plenty of time to focus on your love life."
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Dating might be a bit of an adventure this month, Sagittarius, but Venus now direct in Gemini is going to help smooth things out. "If some awkward romantic moments find their way to you at the end of the month, remember that, sometimes, your extreme honesty can hurt someone," advised Montúfar. "Let them down easy. Be nice."
Capricorn (Dec. 20-Jan. 19)
"Saturn re-entering your sign at the beginning of the month might have felt like entering ice-cold territory. The lessons are not yet over, dear Cap," Montúfar said. "You are still in for one more big love lesson this year . . . so stay tuned."
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Be prepared for multiple people to catch your eye this month. "Sexy Venus now direct in air sign Gemini has been oh so sweet," said Montúfar. "If literally everyone around you seems gorgeous at this time, why not enjoy it while it lasts? Life's too short not to!"
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
You've had some stuff going on in your love life that can be hard to understand, but there's a perk coming your way. "You can thank Mars in Aries for [any romantic drama]," said Montúfar. "The good news is that, at the end of the month, the dreamy connection Mercury makes with Neptune, your home planet, gives your sex life a boost."
