I Took a Sex Personality Test, and Now I Know What I Want in Bed
I've always been a sexual person. My love language is physical touch, meaning the way I show affection includes (but is not limited to) hand-holding, kissing, and — oh, yes — sex. My sex drive has been referred to as "similar to a teenage boy's," and while I may be a 25-year-old woman, I can't disagree. Finding out what I like in bed has taken more than just some time and experimental partners (although those helped, too) — it also took me taking a test on Psychology Today to realise what I've been missing . . . and how to change that.
So, how did I end up on Psychology Today, you ask? The answer is simple: after watching a rerun of a Sex and the City episode, it dawned on me that maybe I wasn't living my sexual life to its fullest. In the midst of Samatha describing her sexual escapades on a swing while at brunch with the girls, I realised that I have not yet done that or have even attempted to. I added "sex on a swing" to my sexual to do list, and in an effort to find out what else I need to try, I did what any person would do and went to Google. Down the rabbit hole I went, and before I knew it, I stumbled across a test that promised to tell me my sex personality. Yes, please.
The whole point of the quiz is to find out how experimental you are in bed, so the questions focus on what you like, what you would try, and what you don't have an interest in trying.
Psychology Today's Sex Personality Test is 68 questions and only took me about 15 minutes to complete. There are two options you can chose to get your results - you can either get a snapshot report with a summary evaluation or you can purchase the full results for $4. The whole point of the quiz is to find out how experimental you are in bed, so the questions focus on what you like, what you would try, and what you don't have an interest in trying. The quiz covers everything from bondage to threesomes, and lets you rate each action based on how you feel about it.
I breezed through the quiz pretty quickly and opted for the free version to see a snapshot of my results, and honestly, it was pretty spot on. The quiz rated me a 57 percent for spiciness, and while I would like to consider myself a bit more adventurous than that, there's always room for improvement. My results noted that I'm "comfortable experimenting sexually, but haven't explored a wide variety of options from the great palette of sex." (Read: sex on a swing a la Samatha Jones.) The test also said I have a creative nature in the bedroom, but I'm not the most experimental "love bug on the planet." (Love bug being the most PG phrase in this whole quiz.)
After taking this sex personality quiz, it made me realise that trying new things is a key part of my life — whether those things be sexual or not. Learning more about what I want in the bedroom will help me better communicate with future partners, and it'll also let me live out my own Sex and the City-esque escapades.
