Guys, is it just us or has Instagram been totally slaying the updates game lately? About a month after the social media app launched an adorable emoji slider poll capability, and about a week after launching IGTV, the social media company has officially introduced a feature that allows users to add music to their Stories.

Here's a quick breakdown of how it works. Once you've recorded a snippet of video for your Stories, tap the smiley face icon in the top right corner that you'd usually press to add a sticker. Per the update, you'll now see a Music icon, right alongside the GIF, Hashtag, and Poll icons. Once you click the Music button, you'll have access to a library of thousands of jams that you can either search by a specific song or browse by mood, genre, or what's popular among other users. But don't worry — you won't be stuck with just using the boring intro verses of each song. You can fast-forward through each track to find the exact part you'd like to feature in your Story (like that moment the beat drops or the lead singer belts out the refrain).

You also have the option to pick your go-to song before capturing your Stories video. After updating your Instagram app, you'll see a new Music option under the camera's record button. Search for a song, pinpoint the specific part you want to use, and then record your video footage while the song plays in the background. It's as easy as that! Ahead, take a step-by-step look at how the new feature works before you update your phone and give it a whirl yourself.
