Leslie Jones Talks Alabama Abortion Ban on SNL May 2019

Leslie "Dracarys" Jones Sets Alabama's Abortion Ban Ablaze on Saturday Night Live

Leslie Jones is no handmaid — she's got fire running through her veins. The Saturday Night Live cast member sat down with Weekend Update host Colin Jost on May 19 to talk about Alabama's recent abortion ban, and the threat it poses to women. She showed up in a red cape and white cap reminiscent of The Handmaid's Tale, but quickly shed the costume to show off her topical t-shirt instead.

Jones called out the 25 white male senators who voted to pass the law in Alabama, and the female governor who signed the law into action, as well as the other states that have passed similarly restrictive legislation. "The fact that nine states are doing this means this really is a war on women," she said. "If you're a woman out there, and you feel scared or confused, just know that you're not alone. There's so many women out there that got your back. Especially me. Leslie 'Dracarys That B*tch' Jones."

Jones is one of several celebrities, like Busy Philipps and Jameela Jamil, who have spoken out against this recent wave of anti-abortion laws. Watch Jones's powerful full remarks above and learn how you can combat the stigma surrounding abortion.
