Frozen Butterbeer Recipe

Ingredients

  1. 10-12 ice cubes
1 tablespoon Kosher salt (or table salt)
    1 cup cream soda
1 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
    1/4 cup + 1 teaspoon butterscotch topping

Directions

  1. Put the ice cubes and salt in a quart-sized Ziploc bag.
  2. Pour the cream soda and 1 teaspoon of butterscotch topping in a smaller, sandwich-sized Ziploc bag. Make sure to seal tightly, pressing out all the air. Mix around until the butterscotch is blended with the soda.
  3. Place the entire bag of soda and butterscotch inside the bag of ice and seal shut. The contents of these two bags should not mix — you aren't eating the ice and salt.
  4. Shake for about four minutes. This will make the soda mixture cold and slushy (it even works if your soda starts out at room temperature, like mine did).
  5. Leave the soda mixture in the bag of ice and set down on the counter while you make the creamy topping. Pour the whipping cream in a bowl.
  6. Mix on high until stiff peaks form. Then, add 1/4 cup butterscotch topping and fold it in to the whipping cream. Don't mix it too long, or it will lose its fluffiness.
  7. Pour the slushy cream soda mixture into a cup.
  8. Top with the butterscotch whipped cream.
  9. Press play on your favorite Harry Potter [1] movie and enjoy!
