American Girl Just Released a "Historical" Doll From 1986, So Feel Free to Put in Your Dentures

American Girl just added a new doll to its historical collection, and get ready to put in your dentures, because Courtney Moore is from the ancient times of 1986! For many of us, 1986 doesn't feel all that long ago, but once you're over feeling *super* old, put on your nostalgia cap and get ready to geek out over Courtney's totally tubular accessories, like a boombox (today's kids will never know!) and some amazing Care Bears merch.
Although her accessories and clothes may not be fully relevant to kids in 2020, American Girl hopes that Courtney and her story will still foster meaningful connections with the youth of today.
According to a press release, Courtney "is a total '80s girl whose big, bright and bold ideas inspire today's girls to find their inner hero to accomplish great things. Growing up in 1986, Courtney's story reflects the pop culture of the decade from sky-high hair, neon-coloured fashions, music television, and video gaming to major historical moments surrounding women in government and space exploration, as well as larger cultural shifts around blended families and emerging technology."
Even though Courtney is from the '80s, American Girl is partnering with Girls Who Code — a nonprofit that is "on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does" — to inspire today's girls.
