Alexis Ohanian added "Sr." to the end of his name in 2017 after he and his wife, Serena Williams, had their first child [3] together, a daughter named Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. In honour of his first Father's Day since welcoming Olympia on Sept. 1, Alexis, the cofounder of Reddit [4], went live on Instagram Stories on June 5 with an AMA ("Ask Me Anything") that touched on his role as dad to his adorable 9-month-old — and we may or may not have gotten a little lightheaded at the extreme cuteness of his answers.
Although the dad spoke a lot about his Armenian background and the fact that he's a good dancer (Serena trolled the comments at this point to set the record straight, and spoiler: he may not be as good as he says he is), his eyes lit up every time he answered a question about Olympia, especially when someone asked what the best part about being a dad is.
"I sort of feel like I leveled up in a way that is just really awesome because [being a dad] gives me this clarity of thought around every decision I make."
"I finally understand Game of Thrones," the dad, who says he would love to have more kids [5], joked. He added, more seriously: "I really think about how I would do anything for my daughter (and also my wife). I sort of feel like I leveled up in a way that is just really awesome because [being a dad] gives me this clarity of thought around every decision I make — not just professionally, but personally — and it feels really good. It's like a higher level of consciousness. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it also helped that I had a kid — something exciting — and got married at roughly the same time . . . Everything we went through last year really helped put things into perspective."
In between more talk of Armenia and a question about which stocks to invest in (not as fun of a question when compared to talking about babies), a question on Alexis's computer caught his eye — "How has Olympia inspired you? — and his answer was so unexpectedly sweet.
"Olympia has inspired me because the moment we found out we were going to have her [6], I just got my life together," he said. "Started exercising, eating better, just being better. Drinking a lot more water, too. And, just generally speaking, really trying to take care of myself. It's been great; I really owe her for that."
He added later, "I'm grateful to be her father. It has changed my life and I couldn't be luckier than to have her for a daughter." He then ended that statement with a shout out to his 9-month-old — which is right about when our ovaries exploded.
